Collaboration

Individuals interact in three basic ways: conversing, transacting and collaborating (in a positive meaning of the word).

Understanding their differences is necessary to secure that an appropriate software solution is employed to satisfy your needs.

Conversational interaction is an exchange of information and an interaction of transaction is an exchange of a transaction entity between two or more participants, whereas collaborative interaction is meant for a modification of a collaboration entity, ex.: reaching a shared goal.

Collaborative interactions are dealt with in such a way that the key purpose of those involved is to introduce changes into the collaboration entity from something non-secured and immaterial, for example, an idea, into a useful solution, for instance a design solution.

Collaborative software is considered to be one type of groupware programs that allow people communicate information and work as a team on projects.

The power of these solutions is in the ability to allow participants to see action plans, exchange documents, track projects, manage schedules, facilitate business processes, be instantly reminded of any tasks and events they are involved in. There are a lot of approaches to making these applications useful: scheduling events, documents and projects, optimizing business processes and coordinating work of two or more business units or even companies.
