Welcome to the Western Hamilton County Transportation Study!
As the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Greater Cincinnati Region, OKI (the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments) has initiated a major investment study of Western Hamilton County’s transportation network.
Due to rapid growth in both population and commerce, this portion of the county is operating at or close to capacity. This increase has placed a growing burden on several roadways in the local interstate system including I-74, a major trade corridor for the region.
The Western Hamilton County Transportation Study focuses on improving mobility and safety for residents, commuters, visitors and freight. The feasibility of multi-modal and transportation system management improvements will be examined. Emphasis will be placed on studying access issues of Western Hamilton County including connectivity to Butler and Dearborn Counties and Downtown Cincinnati.
OKI is investigating potential improvements to the overall traffic flow including improved transit options, operational improvements to the interstate system and associated interchanges, the arterial system, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) options. The study follows the Ohio Department of Transportation Project Development Process (PDP).
